 Ready for a long, fun, and beautiful day of driving? Want to see some of the most epic scenery the Pacific Northwest has to offer? This Mt. Rainer drive offers amazing views and varied topographies, and lots of curves. We will start off in the green foothills of Mt. Rainier, loop around the east side of the mountain while the mid-morning sun is shining down, then reach the southeast corner. There we’ll turn and snake up through the forests along Stevens Canyon Road. That will get us up on the mountain and to the doorstep of the beautiful Paradise Lodge. We’ll have lunch and coffee at the Tatoosh Café, then enjoy the Longmire Wilderness Information Center and explore the trails. Our return route in the afternoon will wrap around and swing north as the sun illuminates the west side of the mountain and some of its many glaciers. It’s a full loop of the most spectacular mountain in the lower 48!

It’s calculated to be 4.5 hours of driving, but that can always vary depending upon weather and road conditions, you know, but we will allow ample time when stopped on the mountain to take in the views, inhale the cool clean air, and explore on our feet.

This is an informal non-quarterly event. RSVP is requested and lunch and fuel are at your own expense.

Where: Meet at Fred Meyer Gas Station in Maple Valley, WA
What time: 9am to whenever
What to bring: Bring your favorite V-Series car, water, road snacks, sunscreen, binoculars, cameras, and your favorite company!
