Delaware Cadillac has reached another milestone that is rare for businesses today-the dealership on Pennsylvania Avenue turns 110 years old in 2026.
Delaware Cadillac was originally founded in 1916 as Delaware Motor Sales Company, with its first showroom located in the center of town at Tenth and King Streets in Wilmington. A once-busy pedestrian and trolley district gave way to more and more vehicles, many brought to town by Delaware Motor Sales, and the showroom was moved to its current location on nearby Pennsylvania Avenue in 1939.
Until 1966, the local, family-owned dealership was the sole Cadillac distributorship for the entire Delmarva Peninsula, and had served the four-state area that includes Delaware, the counties surrounding Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and the eastern shore of Maryland for over a century. In 1982, the current owners acquired the business.
