AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 14, 2014) – Cadillac unveiled its all new 2015 Cadillac ATS-V.R race car in front of a crowd of international journalists this morning at the Circuit of The America's.

Cadillac Racing drivers Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim pulled the cover off the all new Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe powered by a GM LF4.R 3.6L V6 TT (Twin Turbo) engine.

The ATS-V.R is a racing extension of the soon-to-be-revealed Cadillac ATS-V luxury performance coupe. Sharing much of the same athletic traits that make the road-going coupe very track capable will make the race car a formidable competitor on the world’s racing circuits.

The ATS-V.R is being homologated to international FIA GT3 specifications. An FIA GT3 "birth certificate" allows the ATS-V.R to potentially run in nearly 30 different GT series around the world. Manufacturers in this ultra-competitive class of racing include Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes and Porsche.

Driving the ATS-V.R Coupe is the all new GM LF4 3.6L V6 TT engine with a little more muscle. The racing version, named LF4.R, includes racing upgrades – like larger twin BorgWarner turbochargers, increased capacity intercoolers, competition engine management and direct side-exiting exhaust – that push the unrestricted horsepower rating up to 600. The lightweight production aluminum block and heads of the LF4.R, counterbalanced by a rear transaxle, give the ATS-V.R a weight distribution of 49% front to 51% rear.

Noticeable when side by side with its road-going sibling, the ATS-V.R has a wider gate. The fenders are contracted to contain FIA-mandated tire sizes. The aero kit also gives the ATS-V.R a strong pose. A carbon fiber front splitter complemented by corner-mounted dive planes provides frontal aero. And a full under tray directs air beneath the car to the rear diffuser. All these elements work in concert to create a vacuum effect that plants the 18-inch racing slicks to the track.
